All rock stars with longevity are loaded. I hear Lars is super-rich. Carter is loaded too, because Dave splits royalties equally. I'm sure Joey from Aerosmith is really rich, as is Charlie. Tommy Lee certainly leads a wealthy lifestyle.

It's a silly statement to say a band like RUSH does not have to pay back and advance on recording, Def Leppard has made WAY more coin than RUSH and they STILL have to payback before they can recoup or make any profit.

I was talking about the initial record company advance for gear, clothes, wages, and whatnot; not album-by-album recording costs. I am not given to silly statements and I know my song well before I start singing, Randy.

It has a lot to do with how bands divide publishing, for example: the chili peppers divide everything equal, so Chad Smith gets as much as the others. Now that record sales are slowing down, any famous band makes their money on the road though. esp. on merchandise.

...My guess is that Rush splits everything pretty much 3rds, but u raise an interesting ? regarding NP's drumming AND lyrics [& speaking the word "Subdivisions" on Signals & live sample, even tho Alex "mouths"/fakes it live [img]wink.gif[/img] ]; but then Geddy sings all vox, plays bass, keys, & pedals...Lifeson plays gtr & pedals [awa the occasional live comical vocal [img]wink.gif[/img] ]

I would strongly imagine Rush splits everything 3 ways, Neil writing lyrics, but Alex and Ged writing music. A Big factor that comes into net worth is how well the person invested, and saved, as opposed to coking and screwing their money away. It's the old "VH-1 Behind The Music", where Peter Frampton gets a million dollar check for "Frampton Comes Alive", and then his girlfriend cokes/parties most of it down the drain, he gets pissed, and drives his Ferrari into a telephone pole.

It's funny... They went on to say he then lost a ton of money in the "Stock Market Crash of '87", and that's why he's on the skids today. What... did he sell everything the day after the crash?!?!?

If a Bonzo was still alive, and took his million and socked it away in some sound investments, say back in '75, he'd be worth around 10 million today....... (assuming an 8% return, and NO other money invested.)

Kenny Rodgers claims to have made a lot more money from chicken than music.
